placed steaming bowls of rich golden soup before us-“Believe it or not”, it was peanut soup! And delicious.
Thcgroup wanned up and were having a wonderful time when the main course was served.
The luncheon plate featured rosat beef with gravy, asparagus splars With cream sauce and a luscious sweet potato pyramid (and a tall one) topped with a bright red cherry. The plate was intriguing! What was that a-top the cherry? A peanut_the biggest fattest one I had ever seen! “Peanuts still on top,” said the lady next to me.
Luncheon over we went into the Convention Hall, determined to put our minds on the farm# problems of other sections, feeling sure we were through with the “Peanut-People, for a while, at least.
Our Commissioner of Agriculture, the Hon. Parke C. Brinkley, was to be our first speaker. Many nice things had been said about him and I was much interested in all he had to say.
