Teachers may be helpful to students planning to attend V. P. I. iTthey will call their attention to fhe following facts:
1. The student must be accepted for admission to V.P.I. before a scholarship application will be considered.
2. All scholarship a p p 1 i c ation blanks are distributed by the Director of Admissions upon request by the applicant after he has been accepted for admission. The forms are not available from any other sou rce. „3. Application blanks must be requested. Only those with good academic records and a definite need should be encouraged to apply.
4. In filing applications emphasis should be given to neatness, completeness and accuracy. To this list should be added promptness. Now, or within the next 90 days, is the time tofileapplications, not after May 15,as too mam' students do.
5. Test scores have been found to be one of the most reliable indications of scholastic ability Those who seek favorable consideration would do well to try to attain a good record as possible in both high school classes and on the entrance tests. .
6. With so many and such varied scholarships, the awarding of them become more complicated each year. It seems that the student must usually make his financial arrangements before he knows whether he will receive a scholarship or nor. Eventually the deadline for submitting applications mav hav e to be set at March 15th instead of May 15th to overcome this disadvantage.
In the College of Agriculture there are 23 freshman scholarships, 21 for men and two for women. A proportionately smaller number of scholarships is available in the College as a whole The applicant docs have to specify any particular scholarship. He will be awarded the best one available, provided he meets the necessary 'requirements.
