Walter B. Kilby’s home-bred steer was declared Reserve Champion Shorthorn at the Richmond Baby Beef Show and Sale held Tuesday, May 3rd. His graded prime, weighed 950 pounds and sold to Kinghan & Co. at 33V2C per pound. An accomplishment of this sort is indicative of the skillfullness of both1 the breeder arnd the feeder—in this case, the father and son. Seldom Ido we find a baby beef in the championship bracket that is from the home herd, thus we tip our hats to both Walter B. and his dad Earl.
In the Fitting and Showing class which is judged on the basis of showmanship of the boy, training and fitting ojf the steer, appearance of the shovyman and his animal, Walter B. placed 5th with 28 4-H members competing in .the class.

Red Cross; May 24
The Fauquier Chapter, American Red Cross, will hold its Animal Meeting ort Wednesday, May 24 at St. James Parish House, Culpeper Street, Warrenton. Business meeting and election of Board members and officers 2:30 p.m.
The guest speaker, Dr. Robert Gordon, formerly Dean of the University of Southern California and now’ Director of Educational Relationship of the American National Red Cross, will speak at 3:30 p.m. All members of the Red Cross are urged to attend both sessions.
