Gold Cup Saturday
The 35th running of the Virginia Gold Cup at Broadview, Warrenton, Virginia on Saturday, May 7th completes the current series of spring hunt races in the Old Dominion. Seventy-eight individual entries have been received for the six races with the first race going postward at 2:30 p.m. (EST).
The Broadview, about twi miles over brush, had nine original entries. Making his 1960 debut is Mrs. Marion duPont Scott’s home-bred and owned stakes winner Benguala. The 6-year-old bay gelding by Annapolis out of Bennu had an outstanding season as a 4year-old when he won the Temple Gwathmey Steeplechase during the United Hunts meeting at'Belmont Park , as well as capturing the Saratoga and Brook Steeplechases.
Also competing in The Broadview for a share of the $2,000 purse will be Mrs. Caddis Moriss’
