Washington—As a sample of Congressional activity, let us look at last week's program in the Mouse of Representatives. It is rare for two visiting heads of state to pay calls at the Capitol in the same week, but the schedule otherwise was about average. Some major and some minor legislation came up for consideration.
Monday—The Senate came over from its side of the Capitol, and the two houses of Congress listened together to an address by President Charles de Gaulle of France. Thereafter, the House of Representatives decided to disagree with the Senate’s version of a bill which would authorize the sale of four vessels to Free China for trade purges. 'Hiis meant that House and Senate confereiN would have to sit down and work out the differences in the two versions of the bill.
