Mrs. C. E. Johnson
Ch’mn Of Library
At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Rappahannock Library' held at the Courthouse on Monday evening, Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Jr. of Sperryville was elected Chairman, to serve for a period of one year. The Board was happy to announce also that Mrs. H. B. Winfrey has offered her services in setting up the library system, advising and instructing on best library techniques, etc.
The Trusteees and Committee members worked on plans for roofing and new flooring for the building; Mr. Irvirj Wolf outlined a program to raise funds to meet restoration costs; and Mrs. I. L. Parrish of Viewtown presented a beautiful drawing of the Library as it will appear when restoration work is completed.
Many offers of book collections have been received from local residents and from people outside the County who are interested in the success of Rappahannock’s project. The Trustees repeat their request that everyone hold these books until further notice, since no storage space is available for such collections at this time. At some further date, when the! building boasts a waterproof roof and solid floor, a Book Collection Month will be announced and all such gifts will be most gratefully received.
The next Library meeting will be held at the Courthouse on Monday evening, May 16th at 8 p.m. All who are interested in working with the committees or who can offer services of any kind will be welcomed.
