Flower Show Results
Rappahannock Garden Club was rewarded with good weather, which brought a record attendance for the flower show held last Thursday in the Episcopal Parish Hall in Washington, Va. The show drew many local entries as well as fjom surrounding counties.
Awards in the artistic classes, depicting the beauty of Rappahannock County were first and second respectively as follows: Its Mountains, Mrs. S. E. Hening, Mrs. W. R. Williamson; Its Streams, Mrs. John Crockett, Mrs. L. J. Turner;--Its .Woods, Mrs. John Crockett, Mrs. R. V. Snead; Its Storms, Mrs. Charles H. Estes, Mrs. Mrs. R. V. Snead; Its Potential, Mrs. W. R. Williamson, Mrs. Edward Goddard; Its People, Mrs. Charles H. Estes, Mrs. L. J. Turner; Its Fun (for boys and girls) Segar Jones, Ned Jones, Jr.; Its Fun (for men) Charles H. Estes, Robert F. Estes; Its Friends and Neighbors, Luray Garden Club, Garden Club of Warren County; Its Promise, Mrs. George H. Davis, Mrs. Charles H. Estes.
Sweepstakes winner in the artistic classes was Mrs. Charles H. Estes and in the Horticultural section the sweepstakes award went to Mrs. S. E. Hening.
The tri-color award, for the most outstanding exhibit went to Mrs. John Crockett of the Massanutten Garden Club.
One hundred seventy-five people called to see the exhibits and in addition, the Home Economics classes from the high school were guests of the Garden Club. Proceeds from the show were $68.25.
