In his article. “Possibilities For Commercial Sheep in Virginia”, which was published ini the 1960 VPI Block and- Bridle Annual, George Littleton, as always, gives some facts you can "ewes”, in such a way as only George can send the message; therefore I give you the article verbatum:
‘‘For the good of Virginia’s agriculture, the commercial sheep business should be increased on many farms and included on many others not now growing sheep. In a recent comparison of the evaluation of sheep with the revenue produced for our State, every ewe in Virginia handled under every kind of management whether up hill or down, low land or mountain, lacked only 35c each of returning annually the total amount invested in them. This is important when you can buy a flock of sheep and with one year’s production pay the total bill. There is no other forage eating livestock that will come as nearly paying back every dollar of its investment year after year as will sheep.
