On June 1st an effort was made to control grasses, weeds, etc. around Allen Stokes’ non-bearing apple trees and at the same time feiftilize them. Allen Cates, 'Extension Weed Control Specialist, used a power take-off power sprayer, operated at 55 P.S.I. and a 9515 ■nozzle in spraying an 8 foot square around each tree. Materials used were Amizine and Nugreen (45% N) to 10 gallons of water.
The control work was done on the new planting just back of Mr. Stokes’ shop, as you approach the orchard and from left to right: row 1 - 10 oz. Amizine to 10 gallons water; row 2-10 oz. Amizine and 55 lb. Nugreen to 10 gallons wafer; row 3 same as no. 2; row 4 the Nugreen was reduced to MVz. lbs.
