Don’t look for hog prices to stay up more than perhaps another week. Price advances the last three weeks were a bounce-back from the bid drop in August, and prices will probably continue their seasonal down-trend during the next two oi three weeks.
If you have hogs that are ready, sell them this week, but don’t sell them light. Hog numbers are still around 15 per cent under last year, and the seasonal decline wdll not offset a loss in grade or weight.
If you sell feeder pigs, move them now before hog prices start to fall. Demand is high in commercial corn counties for pigs to salvage corn blown dow-n by Hurrican Dona.
