Methodist Revival
The Washington Methodist Church will have their revival beginning Monday, October 24th, and ending on Friday night, October 28th, 1960 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The Evangelist will be the Rev. Henry M. Matthews, pasttor of ivey Memorial Methodist Church in Chester, Virginia. Rev. Matthews attended Randolph Macon College, and received his fiachelor of Divinity Degree from the Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta, Ga. Special music will be rendered each night. Bring your friends and your family and come each nght.
High School Boys
Take Fire Training
On October 4, a group of 28 boys, age 15 and older, from Rappahannock County High School, accompanied by Charles B. Palmer, Vo-Ag instructor, met similar groups from Madison and Greene Counties at Banco for a days training in fire detection, fire laws, uses of wood, pulpwood, insects and diseases water conservation, safety and KVG.
The instructors were Ranger John Vest, Shenandoah Natiohal Park, |ohn Shavis, William Foley, Tom Woods, Bill Clarke. F. D. Kidwell, W. C. Vernon, B. Parrot, Ray Hendricks and Raymond Johnson.
These boys, with written consent from their parents, have oblodged their willingness to help with fire prevention and suppression.
They will only be taken to forest fires by Mr. Palmer, who is also a local County Warden and Raymond Johnson, Chief Warden, with the consent of H. B. Winfrey, principal of the school.
These are the future landowners and farmers of Rappahannock and should be commended for their efforts to conserve our forest land. Those attending the training school were: Roy Atkins, Richard Bayne, Danny Blevins, Michael Brown, Charles Burke, Buddy Bywaters, Nelson Clatterbuck, Gary Deal, Thomas Dodson, Jack Jenkins, James Jenkins, Roy Jenkins, Russell Jenkins, James Leake, James Lily, Carl Putman, Earl Putman, Flovd Seal, Ray Scott, Billy Sisk, Roger Welch, 'Earl Williams, Jerry Williams, Jimmy Williams, Robert Lee Williams, Thomas Williams and Franklin Woodu’ard.
