Social Security News

Some survivors of workers who died before 1940 have not taken advantage of the recent amendments to the social security law and claimed their benefits, according to Miss Florence Schaffner, Field Representative of the Alexandria Social Security Office.

Miss Schaffner explained that under the new law payments can J)e made to the widows and workers who died after March 31, 1938 and before January 1, 1940. To qualify for benefits, the widow must be 62 years of age or over.
