The Year Named
"Conservationist of the Year" was awarded to T. G. Ragsdale, manager of Beauregard Farm and Culpeper Soil Conservation District Supervisor last Friday night. The presentation was made at the annual conference of the Virginia Chapter of the Soil Conservation Society of America held Friday and Saturday in the Chamberlain Hotel at Old Pbint Comfort. The award was presented by Duvall Dickerson, Chairman of the Virginia Association of Soil Conservation Districts. The award is presented annually to Virginia’s outstanding leader in the field of conservation—soil, water, forests and wildlife.
Other than his present position as Culpeper Soil Conservation District Supervisor Mr. Ragsdale is Treasurer of the District and Contracting officer for the constructural work in the Mountain Run Watershed. He has held the posi- ' tions of Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Virginia Association of Soil Conservation Districts. Mr. Ragsdale served one term as a national council member from Virginia in the National Association of Soil Conservation Districts. This year he was.appointed to the State Soil Conservation Committee by Governor J. Lindsay Almond, Jr.
Mr. Ragsdale.is a native of Dinwiddie County; Virginia, and has resided at Brandy in his present position for the past nineteen years. He is an ardent conservationist, both on and off the land.
