1 ne time was Saturday, f ebruary 25, 1961. The place was the Osbourn High School gymnasium. The actors were the boys basketball teams of Rappahannock and Marshall High Schools. The event was the tournament finals of District Ntine Group II basketball i league.
The starting line-up of Anderson, Browning, Belch, J. Jenkins and Armentrout got a lead before the first quarter ended, and were never in any real danger thereafter. Before the final whistle, Coach Bolyard had cleared his bench, and the following boys helped die starters to win from Marshall by a score of 42-27: Atkins, Moore, Settle, Updike, R. Jenkins, Russell and Brown.
On Friday night RCHS won a spot in the finals by defeating Warren ton High School 51-42. 5 High scorer for both games was Butch Browning with 23 and 16 points followed closely by Richard Belch with 19 and 9 points.
The team played an inspired game, both on offense and defense, , well coached by Mr. Larry Boiyard, who has been training the ' team for the last four years.
Mr. Winfrey, Principal of the County High School, stated that

, The team will meet Midlothian in the regional play-offs at University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Friday, March 3rd at 6:15 p.m. We are sure die entire county joins us in wishing diem luck and we hope the many loyal fans will be there to see the game.
