"Complete control of cluster flies is almost impossible since the overwintering insects are concealed in walls, window casings, attics, and other inaccessible places. When possible, close all openings where flies get in. A favorite entrance is the pulley openings through which window weight cords run.
“Apply a chlordane or DDT spray, using a small, hand-operated, compressed air sprayer or other suitable sprayer. In attics, basements, and other places where surface stains do not matter, wet surface thoroughly with chlordane or DDT emulsion concentrate diluted with water according to directions on the label. In other rooms, use a standard 5 percent DDT or 2 or 3 percent chlordane household spray. Follow the directions on the label for amount of spray to use and precautions to take.
