Trout Streams
Closed-Re stocked
This year, for the first time, all the trout streams of Virginia are being closed one week in mid-season except the “fish-for-fun” area in Madison County which will remain open. The State’s western counties have been divided into two groups, the first group was closed this week, and the other will be closed May 8 through May 12. Nearly 200,000 trout will be stocked while the streams are closed, the State Game Commission reports.
Streams in the surrounding area which wttl be closed May 8-12 are as follows: Rappahannock County, N.F. Thornton River, Piney River, Rush River.
Madison County, Hughes River, Robinson River, Rose River, Garth Run.
Greene County, South River, Swift Run.
