Receives Award
The Rappahannock Chapter FFA recently received notice that the Chapter Forestry Award far the Northern Virginia Area has been awarded to them. This spring the local chapter assumed responsibility for improving the timber stand on approximately ten acres bif land adjacent to the high school grounds. This project is expected to last several years, but the fine start that has been made is recognized as the best effort among some twenty five schools in the Northern Virginia area.
At present the acreage is almost wholly covered with scrub pine and hardwood. The long range objective is to establish a stand olf more 'valuable pine by removing
