Panther Tales

RCHS is back in session, all 1 settled down for a tough year of work and “lamin’’. All seem fairly contented on the exterior, however there is an occasional grunt or growl about “some horrible, old assignment’’_but that's to be expected.
The Juniors have reason for contentment. They have had their fingers measured and ordered their class rings and expect to get them in December. A visitor at the high school ire these first few weeks may have seen many strange sights: the music class clapping like crazy; Dottie Davis trying to get her shoe off the roof ?!?!?; phys cd girls bouncing hips to music; boys racing up and down the walks (the present record holders are Bummy and! Robert with 12Vfc seconds); J. G. running as if for his life—from whom? three girls, naturally!; hopeful candidates for cheerleaders limping (from too much practice) down the hall.
STEP and SCAT tests have come and gone. The comment of most persons involved, “Thank goodness, we’ve finished!”
Lsfct night the Annual Staff got the ball rolling with a get-together at Dotties. They concentrated between sandwiches and records_on the annual of course! Nancy Latham inherited the job of Editor and has as her two able assistants, Taylor Updike (ass’t. Editor) and J. G. Russell (business manager. Don’t know how efficient he’ll be cause I understand he lost his pants recently). I think, though die Annual promises to be another good one. Flashbulbs are popping already.
Favorite pastime at RCHS,— killing little snakes; Mr. Winfrey, the American History Class and the Choral Music Class are all followers of the fad.
Clubs are organized again. We have the 4-H, FFA, FHA, SCA, and Varsity as well as Library Club and FTA. For underclassmen and those who do not participate, are study halls, films and a special class ire chess, which Mr. Skinner instructs.
