Kenneth D. Clater, Gunners Mate Seaman, son of Mr. at**}' M®. Jesse C .Clater of Sperryville, Va. was stationed at die U.S. Nava! Receiving Station in Norfolk for transfer to the U.S.S. Waller DDE 466. This station, commanded by Capt. V. A. Blandin, USN, is an intermediate Navy Activity which temporarily receives, shelters, and provides for personnel reporting in for transfer to ships or shore stations in all parts of the world, or for separation at the end of their enlistment.
Clater is one of an average of 6,000 Navy men who pass through
the receiviingj station each month.

Mrs. Pet Smith spent lalt Tuesday yvith her sister, Mrs. Tasker Leake. -Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Smith visited last Thursday and Friday in Washington, D. C. and nearby Maryland.
Mrs. Andrew L. Smith was taken to Warren Memorial Hospital Saturday by' -ambulance for treatment. j
Cleve Kenny and son Larry of Linden were supper guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Ermand Morris.
Mrs. Elmer‘ Hickerson, Mrs. Peggy Wines and Miss Patsy recently visited Mrs. Lynwood Frazier in Luray.
Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Greeley had as their guests for dinner and bridge last Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. L. Blackwell Carey, Mr. and Mrs. Shephen M. Boyd, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. James Bennett.
Miss Rosa Belle Williams and Bernic Burdette of Richmond visited Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Williams over the weekend. Sunday guests of the Williams were Mrs. Hubie Gilkey and children, Kim and Bert, Maynard Williams, Dr. and Mrs. D. H. McNeill and daughter, Nancy.
