BLACKSTONE, Dec. 29 — VV. Moncure Gravatt, 79, president of the Bank of Crewe and former associate trial counsel and general officer of the legal department of the Norfolk and Western Railway Company, died Friday.
Mr. Gravatt was a native of Caroline county. He attended Bowling Green Academy, the University • of Virginia and received his law degree from the T. C^Williams Law School of the
University of Richmond. / He began his practice of law in 1905 at Blackstone and was active in his profession until 155. He was connected with the legal department of the Norfolk and Western for 10 years and was considered among the foremost trial lawyers of his day.
Mr. Gravatt joined the N&W in 1909 as assistant attorney for Nottoway county. In 1916 he became the company’s local attorney for Nottoway, Prince Edward and Appomattox counties, a position he held until bis death. During the late 20’s he was assistant trial counsel for the railroad.
