Mrs. Sarah Spicer
Mrs. Ardena Sarah Spicer of Castleton, wife of the late Charles Lewis Spicer, died Thursday, December 21, at her residence, following a long period of declining health. Daughter of the late Edward Courtney and Alice Kilby, his wife, and a native of Woodville, Rappahannock County, she was 85.
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. T. D. Bowles, Mrs. Joseph Watterson, and Mrs. George T. Hales, all of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Garland Grammer of Roanoke, and Miss IHelen May Spicer and Miss Dorothy R. Spicer, both of Castleton; one sorj, Charles E. Spicer of Alexandria; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Brown of Elkton and Mrs. Mae Springs of Frazeysburg, Ohio. - Funeral services for Mrs. Spicer, who was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, were held Saturday, December 23, from the Geest funeral chapel,, her pastor, the Rev. Park P. Dickerson, officiating. Interment followed in the family section of Fairview | Cemetery.
Pallbearers were C. B. Johnson, Andrew Kibler, William (Buddy) Thornhill, Edmund Burke, James Butler and Clyde Courtney, all deacons of Mt. Lebanon Church.
