Hog prices ranged from $17 to $18 in Virginia auctions last week. Richmond was $17 to $17.50. Southeastern Virginia markets were $16.75 to $17.25; Western markets, $16.50 to $17.25; and Baltimore $17.75. These prices were $1 to $1.50 below the January level.

The weather has clouded the crystal ball where broiler prices are concerned.
High tides at Chincoteague and Delmarva plus power failures and heavy snow 'in the Shenandoah Valley undoubtedly killed a lot of birds.
This same weather caused cuts in consumer buying which may or may not be made up when the weather clears. ! Until more details are known, it’s hard to sum up what the affect on prices will be.
