Slate Mill News

On Oct. 16, Mrs. R. W. Quaintance, her sister Miss Elsie Ramsey and their house guest Mrs. C. H. Perry of Oak Hill, W.Va. accompanied Mrs. Charles Jenkins on a a leisurely drive on Skyline Drive and dinner at Big Meadows. Mr. and Mrs. Barton Quaintance and family of Wilmington, Del. spent spent the weekend with the Dr. and Mrs. Quaintance. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Barton Quaintance, Miss Elsie Ramsey and Mrs. C. H. Perry had dinner at the Mimslyn in Luray and spent the afternoon going through the Luray CajVerns. Mrs. Perry left on Sunday for her home in Oak Hill, Va.

Mr. and Mrs. Brice Bigg > returned home Oct. 22 from!; a weeks visit on Long Island, N. Y. with their daughter and sonin-law, Mr. and Mrs. George Lyon and family.

Mrs. Mildred Scheer and son Mike of Kensington, Md. spent the weekend with her father Audie Weaver and her brothers Jack and Curtis Lee.

Bob Kennedy left Friday for Fort Bliss, Texas. Bob graduated last June from V.P.I. with a Master’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and received his Second Lieutenant commission from Fort Bragg, N. Car. last July. He is driving through to Texas and will be on duty on Oct. 31 in the Air Defense Artillary.

R. K. Peterson and Lee Hudson of Washington, D. C. spent the week at their home here.

The ladies of the Slate Mills Baptist Church plan to furnish refreshments at the auction on the Yeager Hawkins Farm next Saturday.
