John Harrison Powers, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Powers of Flint Hill was named 4-H All Star from Rappahannock County at the 4-H Short Course held recently at V. P. I. Powers, 19, a 1963 graduate of RCHS, has completed more than 50 projects in livestock and crops during his nine years as a 4-H member. At 15, he won the States 4 -H sheep shearing contest held at V. P. I. He then competed for honors in the National 4-H contest and placed 13th. He has been on several 4-H livestock judging teams, has attended the state 4-H Fores try Corps and was one of the two 4-H boys from the County on the Massachusetts Youth Exchange in 1962. He was president of the Rappahannock Senior 4-H Club and the Light Horse and Pony Club thjls past year and has been a member of the county 4-H council two years.
Harvest Picnic At Jessamine Hill Farm
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lindgren were hosts on Saturday at a picnic supper at their home Jessamine Hill Farms, having as guests their employees and families. The picnic was given to commemorate the harvesting of the 10,000th bale of hay on the farm. Approximately twenty eight guests enjoyed the occasion and the decorations which carried out the harvest motif.
