The Flint Hill FirelOepartment is putting the final touches to their annua 1 carnival and parade startin g this next week, July 31st. through August 3. This year the people of this area and surrounding communities can look forward to four days of real fun and entertainment fo r a 11 ages. For the first time i.n this area the McSpaddens Rides of Florida are corning to bring their outstanding assortment of rides. You will see a midway brilliantly 1 ighted with rides such as a g iant roller coaster, tilt-a-whirl, rollo-a-plane, ferris wh>eel, merry-go-round and five different Kiddie rides. Wednesday, July 31st, thore will be a giant display of f ire works for all to enjoy. 1’he attractions for the next three nights are ones you won’t want to miss. On Thursday, August 1 there will be a grand parade with more than 125 entries, including bands;, marching units, floats anti beauty queens, coming from West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. The parade starts .at 7:00 p.m. (DST) and will be led by Miss Shenandoah A pple Blossom, Jane Ashley Embrey, as Grand Marshal. Tile U. S. Marine Band and Ccdor Guard from Quantico, Va. will lead the parade in a coborful opening. Distinguished guests accepting invitation to participate in the parade are Congressman John O. Marsh, Jr. a.nd Delegate Tom Frost.
In t his space age of jets, astronauts, and talk of a trip to the moon, you will want to see the missile display in the parade and on the carniva l ground. Army personnel will be present to answer any questions pertaining to the purpose and operation' of the hnissile. Don’t be surprised if a j clown tickles your funnybone during the parade. The Ladies Auxiliary will have a plate supper for sale on the grounds following the parade. Friday night will be highlighted by die awarding of five valuable prizes: Winchester 30-30 rifle, electric steam iron, Norelco electric razor, electric grill and a country ham. During the evening music will be furnished by the German Dixieland Band from Frederick, Maryland.
The carnival will be brought to a clima.x Saturday nif'ht with the awarding of the grand prize, a 1963 Plymouth automobile and cash prizes.
There will be plenty of food games and rides on the newly enlarged carnival grounds.
