decks and went to sleep. August 11, 1963 - Today we got up at 6:30 in preparation for the last lap of ourPhilmont trip. The last hike was to be to Clark’s Fork which is about 5 miles from Cypher's Mine. After eating breakfast, we cleaned the adirondecks and awaited inspection. The inspection was over at 9:30 and we left at about 10:00. Six of the boys went ahead while six came later. We started on the hike and made very good time. All of the trip was downhill and traveling was easy. About 3 miles down the road we came to Waite Phillip’s old hunting lodge. We looked around it for a few minutes and then headed on. We finally reached Clark’s Fork, but not before it started to rain again. We were assigned to a fairly dry place and pitched our tents. After this we prepared for supper;the rain was coming down harder now. Only thru the expert cooking of Jimmie Jenkins and Cecil Pullen were we able to get fed. After the meal we all went to the campfire. At the campfire we all sung together and had a regular ‘'hootenanny". A member of the staff played the guitar and we had a real good time. The campfire was over at 9:00 and we went to bed immediately.
