The average growth rate, (a heritable factor highly transmis8able to their offspring) for the first 56 days was a whopping 2.84 pounds per day! While I don't like placing too much emphasis on feed-testrate-of-gain (prefer judging by life-time rate) Genl. R.L, Dulaney of Purcellville has a bull that has done 3.84 pounds a day! A full pound above the average. His ear tag number is 35. Furthermore I don’t see how this bull could have been on the thin side when he smarted the feed test as he weighed 725 pounds then which is good weight for a nine month old calf! It will be interesting to watch this bull and'too, to learn whether Genl. Dulaney will keep or sell him. ,, Three Rappahannock breeders have .bulls in’tffUddd ’ITT the' test. C. E. Johnson, Jr. has ten Angus with an average growth rate of 2.87 lbs. per day. Four of these bulls averaged 3.48 pounds. One of the Johnson bulls developed a fault and will be pulled out.
