DUvRo extena our narrow present back into limitless past. They show us the mistakes of the men before us and share with us recipes for human success. There is nothing to be done which books will not help us do better. They tell us how to live alone and like it/ or how to be happy though married. They teach us to grow thin if fat, fat if thin. They tell us hoW to keep account s, repair machinery, build houses, make love, bury our dead, till our soil, and lose our wrinkles." Mr. Smith tells us that "they inform us of all things: from how to do wrong legally, up to how to enjoy God mystically. But for this litefary enlargement of our narrow present, we would be living like monkeys still. Books give us information, which is indispensable but also insufficient. Knowledge is necessary, but is not enough. Life is action as well as science. Books give us inspiration".

Here in the words of a philosopher-teacher in one of out universities is a word picture of what books are. It is a good but incomplete synopsis, however very timely for us as an aid in fostering the use of our fine library, We have many books which will do the things Mr. Smith speaks of, and much more. * _ How many of us older folks would like to go back over some of the wonderful books which inspired us in our youth? You can you know. What about some of the plays and poems you loved in school? You can find them, every one in the library. Remember Wednesdays. P.M., and Saturday mornings. Reading good books brings joy to the heart.
