Francis W. Slaughter

^ Francis -Warden Slaughter former sheriff of Warren Coun ty, died in Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D. C. Wednesday, April l, 1964. Mr. Slaughter, 57,-had been hospitalized five weeks and had undergone heart surgery Wednesday morning. He was a native of Rappahan nock County, the son of the late Francis Raymond and Mary Pauline Warden. He was sheriff of Warren County for twelve years, first taking office in January 1952. He retired on December 31, 1963. He was active in a number of organizations, including the Isaac Walton League, the Masonic Order, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. A funeral service was held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Front Royal Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. J. Layton Mauze III and the Rev. Carlton Blankenship. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery, Washington, Va. Active" pallbearers were members of Unity Lodge 146, AF and AM, who conducted graveside services. At a regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County, Virginia,on the 4th day of March, 1964, commencing at 10 o’clock a.m. of that day, amendments to tljfi, Subdivision Ordinance of Rappahannock County, Virginia were proposed as follows Upon motion duly made by Herbert A. Foster, seconded by L. H. Luttrell and passed, amendments to the Subdivision Ordinance of Rappahannock County, Virginia, as recommended by the Local Planning Commission, were proposed for adoption by the said Board of Supervisors at a special meeting to be held on April 24, 1964 at 10 o’clock a.m. in the Court House at Washington, Virginia; at which time a public hearing will be h held and said Board of Supervisors will hear all per, sons for and against the adopt* ion of such amendments.
