It is the irretrievable value of a glimpse of irret rievable history that is important. Dollar value is the least important of the two. Dollars in themselves are com mon,merely a commodity,valuable only as a “tool" to a end, not the end in themselves While a fine old book or record which tells first hanc of an event in the lives of our people, is a precious andrare item bearing witness to the life and times of those who have gone before us. Let us help preserve all we have left, THEY ARE VALUABLE - every last ruin in these beaut iful mountains that stands at a bleak monument to the sweat and blood poured out over the rocks of Rappahannock by the pioneer settlers has inestiir able value. We must do everj thing possible to preserve ant protect them. First we musi secure the information about them. What ever is truly knowr about them should be collectet what ever extant records frorr papers, files, records, articles, letters, pictures a n t memory should be collected The Library has a special file to keep the references on these. And a large map is in preparatior upon which every'varifiec place will be marked. Secondly, whevever* possible each owner should do what he can to portect, at least with s roof, any historic structure oi his place. They are valuable both ways. Here the dollai vmlue may be considerable. Within the next ten years we can assure a great growing interest in anything historic you have on your property
