Nancy Latham Named Berea Dean’s List
Making the Dean's Honor List at Berea College, Berea, Ky., the first semeser of the current school term is one from Rappahannock County: Nancy Conway Latham. Nancy is a student at Berea School of Nursing. She is a member of the first string basketball squad and has partlcipated in competition throughout the state with other universities and colleges. She is the daughter of Mrs. Sarah Latham, Amissville. Making the Deans List signi fies that the student carried a full class load and had grades of a *B" or better in all subjects or a standing of 2.4 out of a possible 3.0 for the semester. Berea College is nonsectarian private co-educat ional liberal arts college with study programs on elementary secondary, and college levels. No tuition is charged, and students who need to work part or all of their way to an education may do so. The combined enrollement for the college and the Foundation School, Berea College’s laboratory high school, is 1,539.
Good News from Alaska
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Settle of Mt. Savage Farm, Boston, have word from friends in Anchorage, Alaska saying they are well and safe and report their homes were damaged but still liveable, after the recent earthquake. The Settles are happy to learn that the house they own in Alaska suffered only minor damages. It is occupied by Sgt. and Mrs. John Bargo. The Settles resided there from 1950 to 1960 while Mr. Settle worked at Elmendors Air Force Base.
