A total of 131 traffic crashes Involving 202 vehicles occurred on Rappahannock County highways in 1964, according to statistics complied by the State Police headquarters in Luray. Three persons were killed and 94 injured. Property damage was estimated at $87,801. Tuesdays were the safest days on which to drive. There were only 7 accidents occurring those days. Wednesday was next with 11. More accidents occurred on Sunday, 37, than any other day, and Saturday ran a close second with 35. January was the month with the fewest accidents, only 4, and March topped them all with 17 crashes. From 6 a.m. until 12 noon were the hours in which the fewest accidents occurred, and 6 p.m. until midnight saw the most accidents. Fatilities occurred in the months of June, July and September.
