“There is no gain except by loss,* someone once said. If this is true, there must be a great deal gained each year in cancer control, because there j are so many losses. Thoughtful persons are turn- ! ing these losses into victories ! by making memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society in memory of a loved one lost to cancer. These tributes to someone loved .are a living memorial and mean that others will be helped. In Rappahannock County, a memorial fund has been established to provide a practical and fitting means by which families or friends can com- ; memorate a loved one who has died of cancer or other cause., Contributions are often made j on 'Special occasions such as! birthdays or anniversaries, or i at certain holidays such as: Thanksgiving, Christmas,: Mother's Day or Memorial Day. Every memorial contribution, large or small, gives material aid to cancer programs of research, education, and service to patients.
