The three fatalities were Mrs. Lucille Porter of Steelton, Pa. who was killed in a crash near Sperryville on June 28. The vehicle in which she was a passenger collided with a vehicle in which her husband was riding. On July 8 Mrs. Carol C. Offut of Bethesda, Md. was the fatal victim of an accident near Sperryville. Abner Morris Russell, a colored man of Falls Church was killed in a crash Sept. 27 at the west limits of the Town of Washington.
In comparison there were 6 fatalities in 1963. Two fatal crashes happened in June and one each in July, September, November and December. April of 1963 had the highest total of accidents, 12, and January and October were thei low months with 6 accidents each.
