Injnries Light in
Head-On Crash
Occupants of two vehicles miraculously escaped very .serious injury Sunday evening when the automobiles collided head-on around a sharp curve on Route 211 between Massies Corner and Ben Venue. Roy Wellington Jackson of Amissville, operating a 59 Chevrolet heading east on the highway at a high rate of speed failed to negotiate a sharp curve swerved into the westbound lane and struck a 1966 Chevrolet, according to Trooper J. B. Willis. Operator of the 66 Chevrolet was Howard Macon Fleming of Petersburg, Va. and the vehicle was owned by Master Chevrolet Sales, Inc. of Petersburg. Mildred Martin of Amissville was the owner of the other vehicle. Treated for injuries and released at Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal were Sandra Kay Fleming, age 6, who sustained a "fractured collar bone; Betty Sue Baldwin, 28, of Colonial Heights who had abrasions of the legs and bruised chest; Patricia Ann Fleming, 8, sustained a bruised lower jaw; Howard Macon Fleming, lacerated forehead and abrasions of left leg; and Leo Gordon Mosely of Jeffersonton with a lacerated left leg. Flint Hill Rescue Squad took the injured to the hospital. Jackson was charged with reckless driving and no registration card said Mr. Willis. He sustained lacerations ofj the forehead but was not hospitalized. i |
