The annual ShenandoahCoun cil Scouter Recognition Dinner was held at the Lee-Jack son Restaurant in Winchester on November 10. At this time scout workers throughout the council who have performed outstanding service in scouting are recognized and awarded.
The Reverend B. Gale Titche nell of Woodville along with four others received the Scout er’s Training Award and Mrs. B. Gale Titchenell was given the only Den Mother's Training Award in the Council for the year. These are the highest earned awards that scouters can receive.
In order to get the Den Mothers Award, the Den Mother must complete three sessions of Basic Training, three sessions of Advanced Training, attend a Cub Scout Leaders’ Pow Wow, complete two consecutive years as a registered Den Mother besides successfully performing in leadership and responsibility, and in special projects. This is the only time in the history of this Council that husband and wife have received these awards at the same time. Mr. Titchenell is now serving as Assistant District Commissioner forRappa* hannock County and Mrs. Titch enell is Den Mother for Den -1 of Pack 123.
