The entire end of i screened porch at the home of Mrs. William Porter in Gid Brown Hollow was torn awsy Sunday* night by a large bear apparently in search of- food. The animal clawed at several windows before tearing off the porch screen and knocking a chair into the yard. It took apples from the porch before it was scared away by a shotgun blast. Investigation the next sunning disclosed large beer tracks around the yard and garden. Mrs. Porter said she had been living there since 1913 and this was the first time she has had such an unwelcome visitor.
