The Cancer Society would like to bring its figures up to date. Ten dollars has been added for memorials making a total thus far of $65.00. Jackson District has added $53.00 to their contributions which gives it a total of $478. 57. Total for the county is $1279.58.

Sponsor Barbecue

The Amissville Rurltan Club will sponsor its annual pitcooked barbecue on Saturday July 2 with the men handling all arrangements, including food preparation and serving. The barbecue will be held at AjRissvllle carnival grounds and will be served from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., all you can eat $1.50 for adults and 75(5 for children under 12. There will be rides and prizes and proceeds from the event will go toward community projects of the Ruritans, among them the upkeep of the community dump. Little League ball team, Christmas lighting contest. You’re invited to help yourself to barbecue and help the club and community.

EOA Program

A Remedial Reading Economics Opportunity Program, Title 1 is being held at schools in Madison County for 6 weeks. Mrs. Martha Yates Taylor of Sperryville is Librarian at Waverley Yowell School in Madison. Miss Louann Miller is a teacher and Mrs. Helen Kilby is instructor in arts and music at Criglersville School. Teachers aides are Miss Tish Kilby and Miss Susan Schaefer, all of Sperryville.
