Crashes Reported
There was no personal injury when two vehicles sideswiped on Route 211 just west of Ben Venue Thursday, Aug. 18. According to Trooper R. W. Mitchell, George S, Sweet of Charlotte, N. C. operating a 59 Ford Thunderbird and William I. Morgan of Amissville in a 63-64 Dodge station wagon sideswiped as they both rounded a curve. No charges were made.
A slight collision occurred Tuesday afternoon just east of Ben Venue on Route 211 when an auto backed into a corn blower. Berkley Davis Evans of Orange, Va. operating a 65 Chevrolet owned by Transcontinental Gas Pipe Lines Corp. was turning around from a lane on the highway. At this time Charles Edward Sutphin of Washington, Va. was travelling the highway in a 62 Willys Jeep pulling an International Harvester corn chopper. Evans let the Jeep pass before he backed out to turn around but failed to see the chopper in tow and struck the side of it, according to Trooper R. M. Dodson who investigated. No charges were made and no injury occurred.
