The men who drive the [Tows suggest that resident.-- wait, if at all possible, until the snow plow has pas.-ed before they shovel their driveways. If this can’t be done, shoveling the snow from the drive in the direction in which traffic moves, and putting it as far back from the roadway as possible, will reduce the amount of snow which might be plowed back. It’s also helpful sometimes to scatter salt or calcium chloride in the driveway when snow begins to fall.
And this reminder, from a Highway Department resident engineer in western Virginia: “Observe patience, and remember wherewith someth the snow."
