Interest Rates on CCC
Loans Unchanged
Interest rates on 1967-crop price-support loans and on farm storage facility and equipment loans will continue at present levels, according to an announcement by James E. Warren, Chairman, Virginia Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation State Committee. The interest rates are 3 1/2 per cent on pricesupport commodity loans and 4 per cent on storage facility and equipment loans.
The Chairman explains that the determination not to change the interest rates was made by the Secretary of Agri culture as a result of his annaul review of the rates in terms of farm income objectives of the Commodity Credit Corportation loan programs. His decision this year took into account rising farm production cost, including the cost of credit — with a resulting cost-price squeeze that is increasingly severe. Despite increases in commercial interest rates, therefore, the Secretary concluded that the program objectives would be furthered by continuation of the current CCC interest rates.
