We had a record rainfall in March - 4.70". Bringing the total since November 1st 1966 to date to 13.36" as compared to 9.52" a year ago. Peach bloom reported to be heavily damaged in orchards of higher elevation, if not completely wiped out. Also, heavy damage to crop reported in Carolinas and New York. George Williams says our growers should by all means apply the leaf curl spray. Adjust spray program from there after more positive information on crop damage can be determined. George Williams will be available Fridays for checking on orchard problems com-. mencing April 15th. Please contact us by noon each Thursday should you like to have! George go over your orchard! with you. Col. John Lyle and Tom Massie were Rappahannock buyers at Culpeper BCIA sale. Col. Lyle bought two Angus and Tom one. Also, hear C. E. Johnson, Jr. got a nice young bull with a good BCIA record backed by fancy breeding from Brandy Rock. Herbert Barksdale and Nelson Atkins, Jr. both of Flint Hill, improved their swine herds at the recent purebred sale held at Culpeper. As I recall Herbert got a nice jboar, Junior several nice 'gilts.
