Principal purpose of the project is to acquaint the public with the fact that glaucofnaincreased tension in the eye which gradually destroys sight can usually be arrested and remaining sight saved if found and treated early. Glaucoma is much more prevalent than is generally realized. It is estimated that two people in 100 over 40 years of age are affected with glaucoma and 12 per cent of all blindness results from glaucoma. Another fact nor generally known is that gmticoma is much more common among relatives of persons with glaucoma - probably 4 to 5 times as common. Although there are usually no noticeable early symptoms of chronic glaucoma, the condition can be detected by a thorough medical examination. Everyone over 40 and especially persons who have relatives with glaucoma are urged to have a thorough eye examination every two years by an eye physician (Ophthalmologist) or hospital eye clin
