Hears Va. Historian
J. R. Fishburne, research historian for the Virginia Hi& toric Landmarks Commission Richmond gave an interesting and informative lecture to the Rappahannock Historical Society at the Library on Tuesday stressing local landmarks. He asked the cooperation of the Society ingathering information on a list of landmarks in the state files and locating others. William Carrigan agreed to coordinate activities to gather such information. George H. Davis, Jr. offered to take pic tures and supply information of pertinent interest. Jon Morgan, Dorothy Davis and Mary C. Parrish agreed to assimilate the information gathered for the Jamestown Celebration Commemorative County Map and the information for the houses used in the Bromfield Parish House Tours during the past ten years. Other mem bers of the Historical Society who volunteered at it's charter meeting to serve on the permanent House and Family Committee are Mildred T. Fletcher and Frances B. Thornton. The first meeting of this group will be October 4 at 8:00 p.m. at the Davis residence. Others interested in compiling this information contributing pictures or suggesting landmarks not included in the list are urged to attend or contact the coordinator.
