needed in the event an ABC store was opened in the town. However, according to a spokesman at the ABC Board in Richmond, to whom I personally spoke, this has never to his knowledge been necessary.
It is true that no additional revenue for the county will result from a storb here. All revenue from this means is, so to speak, put in the pot, and allocated at the end of the fiscal year. As sales increase over the state, so would Rappahannock’s share increase, but not specifically from a store located here. The taxpayers will not be given an opportunity to vote on the issue unless enough get together and officially request a referendum. To do this a petition must be filed with the Judge of the Circuit Court requesting a local option election. The petition would have to be signed by qualified voters and contain 30C of the total number of voters in the last presidential election. The petition would then be examined by the Judge or a committee appointed by him. If the petition is found in order, the Judge would issue an order calling for a local election or referendum. (There is little possibility, in my opinion, that a county already wet, and one of the few' which allows beer and wine sales on Sunday, would vote igainst the store.
