Mrs. Cordle Will Host Garden Club
The Rappahannock County Garden Club will meet Wednesday, May 15 at 12 noon at the home of Mrs. W. H. Cordle in Broad Hollow. Program chairman: Mrs. Morrell Magarity. Members are reminded to bring lunch and be prepared to go on a Nature Walk, led by Miss Jane Roller of Washington, D. C.
Family Reunion Planned
A family reunion of the descendants of the Ben F. Jenkins family will be held Sunday, May 12th, at the “Old Homeplace” on the Shackelford Farm in F. T. Valley. All friends and relatives are invited, everyone BRINC a picnic lunch. In case of rain, will be held in Sperryville Fire Hall.

Thistles came to Rappahannock long ago. Thistles common to the area for years have been the Bull and the Blue thistles. Raymond Sutphin has always known of the Bull thistle as a Tree Thistle and the Blue Thistle as the Bull thistle.
Still others have know the Blue thistle as Blue Devil weed, etc., etc., etc. We’ve gotta get our minds together for in recent years Rappahannock has inherited two new thistles: the Musk and the Curled. This is why Bill Lyne has potted thistles in those ugly tin cans gracing the posts around the court yard. Bach bears a name tag. Look them over, compare and learn the difference. Why - Well just imagine yourself to be a hungry cow, or bull, if you p 1 ea s e; Which would you rather your nose come in contact with when reaching for a lush morsel of grass, or clover; or a big spiny thistle?
