The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors tentatively approved the proposed budget for the county for the fiscal year beginning duly 1 at the May meeting of the Board held Friday. Total of the proposed budget was $762,775. It will be acted on at the June meeting and will be published in this paper prior to that time, Charles Rist ofCharnlta, Ski Area in Pennsylvania appeared before the Board seeking a variance on the present county zoning and sub-division ordinances. He stated that he would like to come to the county and devclope a year round resort community at Skyline Ski Area in Harris Hollow. However, he wished certain requirements on roads waived.
Since the Chairman of the Board, J. Newblll Miller, and other Board members had not been aware ahead of time of Mr Rlst’s visit, he was allotted only ten minutes with the Board and a special meeting Is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 at which time he will be heard. Mr. Rist had made the same request previously and several members of the Board, Planning Commission, etc. made a trip to his establishment at Charnita, Pa. to see the development. The Planning Commission recommended strict adherence to the Rappahannock ordinances and refused exception.
Resident engineer James Skeens presented a copy of a resolution to the Board approv Ing the addition of the streets of the small sub-division north of Flint Hill into the secondary road system. He also announced that bids for reconstruction work on Route M2 would he let In June and work would begin probably In August. T V. Williams of Flint Hill was appointed to fill the- vacancy on the Planning Commission.
