Letter To Editor
Dear Editor: It is not my desire to keep myself before the public; however, I cannot refrain from speaking out on some of the occurrences in our County. In reference to the invitation issued to the Pennsylvania couple to appear before the Board of Supervisors on May 3, I feel I must make a statement.
I was appalled when I learned, by accident, that the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Mr. Newbill Miller, the supervisor for this area had not been consulted concerning the issuance of the invitation to attend the Board meeting. Mr. Miller had no knowledge of this until Wednesday of the week of the Board meeting on Friday. Neither did he have any knowledge of the article headed “Penna. Couple Invited to Promote Ski Area" published in the Rappahannock News until he read it in the paper on Thursday before the Friday meeting. In my opinion, this was a discourtesy, to say the least, to the Chairman, and a most unusual and unethical procedure. Mr. Miller was placed in aj very awkward position before; the Board and in a very bad light before the citizens of the ! County. It was known that the| agenda for May 3 meetingwasj unusually heavy. The publication ofthearticle in question was no reflection upon you, the Editor, for it is my understanding that you pub lished it thinking Mr. Miller was aware of the action taken.
We should disapprove of any action which belongs to the public that has the appearance of undercover and manipulation.
