They report-1 ed that they would be most happy to have Mr. Rist come into Rappahannock County if he would comply with our existing laws. The Commission did not feel that they could rec-| ommend an exception to thei laws or propose a specially zoned district to grant Mr. Rist favors not granted to, prior developers. In return, 1 i understand, the Planning Com mission read a very disre-i spectful letter from him. Then, may I ask, why and by whom was this invitation issued?
However, the most Important question in my opinion is: Why should promoters (de-! siring to accumulate wealth for themselves) from Pennsylvania or any other State be | allowed to come Into the County and take over a6 they desire without conforming to the laws: of the County or the laws of the State of Virginia, when some of our own County men have, at their own expense, developed their subdivisions conforming to these laws? The Chairman and the Board of Supervisors should be commended for their courtesy to the couple under the prevailing circumstances. Mr. Rist was given some of the Board’s valuable time. The Board gave the couple a date for May 15, at 10 o'clock to be heard again. The Chairman requested Mr. Skeens, the Highway Supervisor for Rappahannock, to be present for this meeting.
