Following Storm
Conditions are almost back tc normal in Rappahannock Count) after the quick snow storm Iasi Tuesday which disrupted living in general. Hie sodden snow built up and clung to power and telephone lines snapping pole* and wires. Trees and limbs fell or wires and blocked roads.
Many homes were withoui electric current from earl) Tuesday morning until Saturda) morning. In some places phone service has not been restored yet. Schools and offices could no! function Tuesday afternoon and most were closed all day Wednesday because of heat and lighting conditions. Schools and offices reopened Thursday. Some stores and service stations did not open until Friday.
In homes where heat was not affected, many people took in neighbors. Several men who had power generators aided friends in keeping freezers cold. Fireplaces and camp stoves provided heat and were the order of the day for cooking and everyone seemed to fare relatively well. Anyhow, U really made us appreciate what we normally have. A field supervisor for Potomac Edison said in over 25 years with the power company, this was the worst situation he had ever seen. There were more lines down than ever before.
Thanksgiving Service
The Woodville Baptist Church will hold a Thanksgiving Eve Service Wednesday, November 27 at 7:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.
The annual community Thanksgiving Service in Amissville will be held Wednesday evening, November 27 at the Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Charles Kindred, pastor of Amissville Baptist Church, will deliver the message. Everyone is invited to attend.
